Education and Enterpreneurship: Our priority

"For the two coming years (January 2011-December 2013), our priority is and will be education and enterpreneurship", PCI president Josué Pierre-Paul declared over a meeting with some people living in camps headed by Rosemarie Cemaitre.

The PCI was founded upon an educational program which was modified after the January 2010 earthquake that killed more than 230,000 people. But, that earthquake also weakened our organization, and we could not do all the things we had planned. In September 2009, we could support 80 children to attend school and train 150 young adults on enterpreneurship for two months. 

After that disaster, it gets more difficult to find funds for education. Attention was headed to the victims. For more than 3 months (January-April 2010), we were giving a hot meal everyday to children and parents living in tents with support of 2 international organizations. But never have we changed our mission and forgotten education is the real development pillar. 

Pierre-Paul reminded them that education and enterpreneurship are the key to get the country out of these difficulties. And that's the reason why we hang with this, as we need real change for Haiti.
