JACMEL - The PCI is participating in a cultural association that aims to regroup people from all over the country to contribute to improve people's lives by offering educational and cultural opportunities.
In April 2, a group of young people met with PCI president Josué Pierre-Paul so as to find a way to form a great cultural movement to enable more people to move on despite difficulties. Over several meetings, we all found out culture is the activity liable to unite youth and help them advance suitably. When we say culture, we mean training, education, leisure, sports, and so forth. This association will also aim to train people on human rights and democracy.
More than 34 people have already joined this project. There are now people in three departments: West, South-east and North. This new cultural association aims to work in the whole country. So, we are keeping on registering members even after its legal registration. The launching is scheduled for May 2011.
Myrlande Pierre-Louis, who runs a foundation in Cape-Haitian (North), says she is available to work within this project. Working with poor children for several years, she is has already given all the documents required to be a charter member of our new cultural association.
We will not be able to carry out some tasks without foreign or international support. Even though this project targets Haiti, foreigners are invited to join us so we can make Haiti a better place. With the development our new cultural association means to do, less Haitians will think about fleeing from Haiti. And with your participation and support, it is possible.
