PCI will launch its communities against violence project

In middle June 2011, we plan to launch a program to help prevent and reduce / stop violence in social relationships in communities. The first community chosen to test this program is Lafond.

Lafond is a rural community located at about 6 kilometers from Jacmel town. Our Anti-violence program aims to increase public awareness of any kind of violence [against children and women]. At the end of the first step, Lafond will become a community against violence, where family and community relationships are based upon respect and peace.

We will welcome international volunteers to come and help us in this project. They will have to reinforce our training sessions in this community. It will also be an opportunity for them to know more about Haitian rural culture and facilitate a better intercultural exchange. With them, the Pierre-Paul Christian Initiative will also be able to identify new projects for Haitian communities.

The PCI has received international volunteers since February 2010. From that year, we already received more than 180 volunteers. And during the summer vacations, we will involve them in our Anti-violence program by making Lafond a community against violence, along with them.
